Fix Scaleway Object Storage Connection Errors — Resolve with RcloneView

Most Scaleway connection failures come down to a region, endpoint, or key mismatch — here is how to find and fix it in RcloneView.

Scaleway Object Storage is reached through the S3-compatible protocol, so a remote needs a matching Access Key, Secret Key, region, and endpoint. If any one of these disagrees with where the bucket actually lives, you get access denied or bucket-not-found errors that look like network problems. RcloneView shows the errors in its logs and lets you rebuild the remote without losing your sync jobs.

Check Region and Endpoint First

Scaleway buckets are tied to a region, and the endpoint must belong to the same one. A team that created a bucket in one region but configured the remote for another will see authentication-style failures even with valid keys. Compare the region shown in the Scaleway console with the region and endpoint in your remote settings, character by character.

Verify Credentials and Permissions

Next, confirm the Access Key and Secret Key. A regenerated or deleted key is a common cause when a previously working job suddenly fails. Also check that the key's permissions cover the bucket and project you are targeting; a valid key without access to the bucket still returns access denied. Open Remote Manager, edit the remote, and paste fresh values.

Test, Then Resume Jobs

After editing the remote, open the Rclone Terminal and list the bucket to confirm the connection works. Then run a Dry Run on your sync job to confirm it sees the expected files before real transfers resume. If the problem persists, enable rclone logging at DEBUG level in Settings, restart the embedded rclone, reproduce the error, and read the log.

Getting Started

  1. Download RcloneView from rcloneview.com.
  2. Open Remote Manager and edit your Scaleway remote.
  3. Match region and endpoint to the bucket, and re-enter the keys.
  4. List the bucket, run a Dry Run, then resume your jobs.

A remote whose region, endpoint, and keys agree behaves like any other S3-compatible storage in your workflow.
