Manage Jottacloud Storage with RcloneView: Sync, Backup, and Organize Files
Jottacloud offers unlimited storage at a flat price — but managing it across clouds takes the right tool. RcloneView gives you a visual interface to browse, sync, back up, and organize your Jottacloud files alongside any other cloud.
Jottacloud is a Norwegian cloud storage provider known for its generous unlimited storage plans and strong European data privacy standards. It is a popular choice for personal backups, photo archives, and businesses that need large-capacity storage without per-gigabyte pricing surprises.
The challenge with Jottacloud is that it lives in its own ecosystem. If you also use Google Drive for collaboration, Amazon S3 for archives, or OneDrive for work, keeping data organized across all of these becomes a manual chore. RcloneView bridges this gap by letting you manage Jottacloud alongside 70+ other cloud providers in a single, two-pane GUI.

Manage & Sync All Clouds in One Place
RcloneView is a cross-platform GUI for rclone. Compare folders, transfer or sync files, and automate multi-cloud workflows with a clean, visual interface.
- One-click jobs: Copy · Sync · Compare
- Schedulers & history for reliable automation
- Works with Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, S3, WebDAV, SFTP and more
Free core features. Plus automations available.
Why Manage Jottacloud with RcloneView
Jottacloud's own apps work fine for basic uploads and downloads, but they lack cross-cloud features. With RcloneView you can:
- Browse Jottacloud storage in a familiar file-manager layout — navigate folders, check sizes, and manage files visually.
- Sync Jottacloud with Google Drive, OneDrive, or S3 — keep working copies in collaboration tools while archiving to Jottacloud.
- Schedule automated backups from any cloud to Jottacloud's unlimited storage.
- Compare folder contents across providers to catch drift or missing files.
- Avoid vendor lock-in by maintaining copies of important data on multiple services.
Setting Up the Jottacloud Remote
Adding Jottacloud to RcloneView is straightforward:
- Open RcloneView and click + New Remote.
- Select Jottacloud from the provider list.
- Follow the OAuth login flow — you will be redirected to Jottacloud's website to authorize access.
- Name the remote (e.g.,
MyJottacloud) and save.
Your Jottacloud storage, including all devices and mount points, will appear in the Explorer pane.
Browsing and Organizing Storage
RcloneView displays your Jottacloud content in its two-pane Explorer. You will see your configured devices and their mount points — typically including an Archive device for unlimited storage and your named devices for synced folders.
From the Explorer you can:
- Navigate through folders and subfolders within any device or mount point.
- Create new folders to organize your archive structure before uploading.
- Delete old files you no longer need, freeing up your view (and reclaiming quota on limited plans).
- Open a second cloud in the opposite pane for direct comparison or transfer.
Syncing Jottacloud with Google Drive or Amazon S3
The most common use case is keeping Jottacloud in sync with a collaboration cloud or an object storage service.
Jottacloud to Google Drive
If your team works in Google Drive but you want an affordable off-site copy, set up a sync from Google Drive to Jottacloud. New and changed files flow automatically on your schedule.
Jottacloud to Amazon S3
For a durable, geographically redundant backup, sync Jottacloud data to an S3 bucket (or any S3-compatible service like Wasabi or Backblaze B2). This gives you a second copy outside Europe if needed.
How to Transfer
- Drag and Drop: Select files in one pane and drag them to the other. Ideal for one-time transfers or small batches.
- Compare and Copy: Run a folder comparison to see differences, then copy only what is missing or changed.
- Sync: Mirror an entire folder structure. Use Dry Run first to preview changes.
Scheduling Automated Backups
Jottacloud's unlimited storage makes it an excellent backup destination. In RcloneView:
- Create a Copy or Sync job from your source cloud to Jottacloud.
- Open the Job Scheduling panel.
- Set a schedule — nightly for active projects, weekly for archives.
- Save and enable the schedule.
RcloneView runs the job automatically and logs every execution in the Job History panel. You can review transfer counts, errors, and durations at any time.
Managing Unlimited Storage Effectively
Unlimited does not mean unorganized. Keep your Jottacloud archive useful with these practices:
- Use a consistent folder structure — mirror your source layout or use date-based directories (e.g.,
Backups/2026/04/). - Set up filters to exclude temporary files, caches, and system directories that waste storage and slow transfers.
- Run periodic comparisons between source and backup to catch any sync gaps.
- Monitor job history for failed transfers — a single timeout or permission error can leave gaps in your backup.
Tips for Jottacloud Users
- Jottacloud throttles large uploads — if you are migrating terabytes for the first time, expect the initial sync to take time. Subsequent incremental runs will be fast.
- Use the Archive device for unlimited storage. Other devices may have different quota rules depending on your plan.
- Combine with encryption — if you want client-side encryption on top of Jottacloud's server-side protection, add an rclone crypt remote over your Jottacloud remote in RcloneView.
