Why Sync Dropbox to pCloud
Dropbox imposes storage caps on most plans and charges per-user fees that scale quickly for growing teams. pCloud's lifetime plans eliminate recurring costs, and its European data centers (Luxembourg) offer a geographic hedge for teams that need data residency outside the United States. By syncing Dropbox to pCloud, you maintain a real-time backup that is accessible through pCloud's own apps and web interface.
There is also the protection factor. Dropbox's versioning window is limited to 30 or 180 days depending on your plan. If a file corruption or accidental deletion goes unnoticed beyond that window, recovery is impossible. A pCloud mirror gives you an independent copy with its own retention timeline, doubling your safety net.
Connecting Dropbox and pCloud in RcloneView
Start by adding a Dropbox remote. RcloneView opens your browser for OAuth authentication — sign in to Dropbox, authorize the connection, and the remote appears in your remote list. No API keys to copy manually. The Dropbox remote gives RcloneView access to your entire Dropbox root, including shared folders you own.
For pCloud, add a new remote and select "pCloud" as the provider. Authenticate via OAuth the same way. If your pCloud account is on the EU servers, make sure to select the correct hostname (eapi.pcloud.com) during setup. RcloneView will confirm the connection and display your pCloud root directory.
Configuring the Sync Job
Open the two-pane explorer with Dropbox on the left and pCloud on the right. Browse to the folders you want to keep in sync. For a full mirror, select the Dropbox root; for selective sync, pick specific directories like /Work or /Photos.
Create a new job in the Job Manager. Set the mode to "Sync" to keep pCloud as an exact mirror of Dropbox. If you prefer to only add new files without removing anything from pCloud, use "Copy" mode instead. RcloneView compares modification times and file sizes by default, but you can enable checksum checks for an extra layer of verification. Note that Dropbox uses its own content hash algorithm, and RcloneView handles the translation automatically.
Set bandwidth limits if you are on a metered connection, and configure the job to run on a recurring schedule — daily syncs work well for most teams.
Monitoring and Verifying Transfers
Once the job kicks off, the transfer dashboard displays per-file progress, overall throughput, and estimated completion time. Dropbox API rate limits can throttle large transfers, but RcloneView automatically retries failed requests and backs off when limits are hit.
After the first full sync, subsequent runs are incremental — only changed or new files transfer. Review the job history to confirm each run completed without errors, and spot-check a few files in pCloud to verify content integrity.
