Backup MEGA to Backblaze B2: Affordable Redundancy for Your Encrypted Cloud with RcloneView

MEGA offers 20 GB free with built-in encryption. But encryption doesn't protect against account lockouts or accidental deletion. A Backblaze B2 backup does.

MEGA is known for its zero-knowledge encryption and generous free tier. But relying on any single provider — even an encrypted one — is risky. What if your account is suspended? What if you accidentally delete a folder? Backblaze B2 at $0.006/GB/month gives you an affordable safety net. RcloneView connects both and automates the backup.

Why MEGA Users Need a Backup

  • Account suspension risk — MEGA has strict terms. Violations can lock your entire account.
  • No recycle bin for old deletions — MEGA's rubbish bin has storage limits and expiration.
  • Storage downgrades — If your paid plan expires, excess data may become inaccessible.
  • Independence — True data ownership means copies you control, not just one provider's promise.

Setup

Add MEGA

  1. Click Add Remote → select MEGA.
  2. Enter your MEGA email and password.
  3. Save — your MEGA files are browsable.

Add Backblaze B2

  1. Click Add Remote → select Backblaze B2 (or S3-compatible).
  2. Enter your Application Key ID and Application Key.
  3. Save.

Create the Backup
