Manage Alibaba Cloud OSS — Sync and Backup Files with RcloneView
Alibaba Cloud OSS is a leading object storage platform for Asia-Pacific workloads — and RcloneView makes it easy to browse, sync, and back up your buckets without touching the command line.
Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) is the go-to storage platform for teams with data residency requirements in China or across the Asia-Pacific region. Whether you are archiving large media files, backing up application data, or syncing datasets between regions, RcloneView provides a clean graphical interface on top of rclone's battle-tested OSS support. No separate rclone installation is needed — RcloneView ships with an embedded rclone binary.

Free core features. Plus automations available.
Adding Alibaba Cloud OSS as a Remote
Open RcloneView and click the New Remote button in the sidebar. From the provider list, select S3 Compatible Storage and then choose Alibaba OSS as the provider (alternatively, select the dedicated Alibaba Cloud Object Storage type if shown). You will need your Access Key ID, Access Key Secret, and the correct OSS endpoint for your region — for example, oss-cn-hangzhou.aliyuncs.com for East China or oss-ap-southeast-1.aliyuncs.com for Singapore.
Once the credentials are entered, RcloneView validates the connection and lists your buckets immediately. If your bucket is in a specific region, ensure the endpoint matches — a mismatch is the most common cause of connection failures with OSS.
Browsing Buckets and Transferring Files
After adding the remote, the Alibaba OSS remote appears in the dual-pane file explorer. You can browse folders and objects just like a local file system. Drag and drop files from your local drive into an OSS bucket, or move objects between OSS prefixes directly. RcloneView shows live transfer progress so you always know the status of large uploads.
For teams with multiple OSS buckets across regions, you can add each region endpoint as a separate remote and manage them all from one RcloneView window. This makes cross-region data movement straightforward without juggling multiple command-line sessions.
Running Sync and Backup Jobs
The real power of RcloneView for OSS workflows is the sync job system. Use the Job Wizard to create a sync job from any local folder or cloud remote to your OSS bucket in four guided steps. A dry run option lets you preview which files would be transferred before committing — essential when working with large OSS buckets.
RcloneView's 1:N sync feature lets you sync one source to multiple OSS buckets simultaneously, which is useful for maintaining redundant copies across OSS regions. The Job Manager tracks all running jobs, while Job History gives you a full log of past transfers for auditing. PLUS license holders can schedule these jobs on a recurring timer so backups run automatically without manual intervention.
