Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) offers 10 GB of free object storage and competitive pricing beyond that. But managing OCI storage alongside your other clouds requires the right tools.

Oracle Cloud Object Storage is S3-compatible, durable, and cost-effective — especially with Oracle's generous free tier and Always Free resources. Many organizations use OCI alongside AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. RcloneView connects them all, giving you a visual interface to manage Oracle Cloud Object Storage alongside 70+ other providers.

Why Oracle Cloud Object Storage?

Competitive pricing

FeatureOracle CloudAWS S3Google Cloud
Storage (TB/month)$26$23$20
Egress (first 10 TB)Free$90$120
Free tier10 GB + Always Free5 GB (12 months)5 GB

Oracle's biggest advantage: free egress for the first 10 TB/month. If you download data frequently, this alone saves hundreds of dollars.

S3 compatibility

OCI Object Storage provides an S3-compatible API, meaning any tool that works with S3 — including rclone and RcloneView — works with Oracle Cloud.

Enterprise features

  • Storage tiers: Standard, Infrequent Access, and Archive.
  • Object versioning: Protect against accidental deletions.
  • Lifecycle policies: Automatically move data between tiers.
  • Replication: Cross-region replication for disaster recovery.

Practical Workflows

1) Browse Oracle Cloud visually

No more OCI Console for file management. Browse your buckets and objects in RcloneView's two-pane explorer:

2) Migrate from AWS S3 to Oracle Cloud

Take advantage of Oracle's free egress by moving data from S3:

  1. Add both S3 and Oracle Cloud as remotes.
  2. Create a Copy job from S3 → Oracle Cloud.
  3. Monitor the transfer and verify with Folder Comparison.

3) Sync Oracle Cloud with Google Drive

Keep a collaboration-friendly copy on Google Drive while archiving on Oracle Cloud:

  • Schedule daily syncs from Google Drive → Oracle Cloud.
  • Oracle Cloud serves as your durable, cost-effective archive.

4) Multi-cloud backup strategy

Use Oracle Cloud as one leg of a multi-cloud backup:

Primary (Google Drive) → Oracle Cloud (archive with free egress)
Primary (Google Drive) → Backblaze B2 (second archive)

5) NAS to Oracle Cloud backup

Back up your Synology or QNAP NAS to Oracle Cloud:

Oracle Cloud Storage Tiers

Use the right tier for each use case:

TierBest ForPrice
StandardFrequently accessed data$26/TB/month
Infrequent AccessMonthly access$10/TB/month
ArchiveYearly access$3/TB/month

Lifecycle policies can automatically move data between tiers based on age.
