Migrate Mega to Proton Drive — Transfer Files with RcloneView
Two privacy-first cloud providers, one direct transfer path — RcloneView moves files between Mega and Proton Drive without a local round trip.
Users switching from Mega to Proton Drive — or consolidating both into a single privacy-conscious backup strategy — usually hit the same obstacle: neither provider offers a native way to talk to the other. Downloading everything from Mega to a local disk and re-uploading to Proton Drive works, but it doubles the time, doubles the local disk usage, and adds a step where files can silently fail to re-upload. RcloneView connects to both remotes at once and transfers directly between them.

Manage & Sync All Clouds in One Place
RcloneView is a cross-platform GUI for rclone. Compare folders, transfer or sync files, and automate multi-cloud workflows with a clean, visual interface.
- One-click jobs: Copy · Sync · Compare
- Schedulers & history for reliable automation
- Works with Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, S3, WebDAV, SFTP and more
Free core features. Plus automations available.
Connecting Both Remotes
Mega is added in RcloneView with email and password credentials — no OAuth flow required. Proton Drive is added the same way: email and password, with an optional two-factor authentication step if enabled on the account. Once both remotes are configured, they appear as separate tabs in the Explorer, and you can browse either one's folder structure without leaving the app. Connect S3, Azure, or Backblaze B2 with full read/write on the FREE license as well, if part of your migration also touches business storage.
With both tabs open, dragging a folder from the Mega panel to the Proton Drive panel triggers a direct copy between remotes — the data streams cloud-to-cloud through rclone, not through your machine's disk as an intermediate step for the full file content.
Running a Structured Sync Instead of a One-Time Drag
For a full account migration rather than a single folder, the Sync wizard is the better tool. Select Mega as source and Proton Drive as destination, choose one-way sync to avoid touching the Mega side, and move to the filtering step if you want to exclude anything — large video archives, temporary files, or specific extensions — before the transfer starts.
Run a Dry Run first. It lists every file that will be copied without moving any data, which matters most on a first-time full-account migration where a misconfigured filter could otherwise skip or include more than intended.
Verifying the Migration Completed Cleanly
After the sync finishes, open Folder Compare between the same two folders. The "Show same files" and "Show different files" filters confirm whether every file landed correctly and matches on size, which is the fastest way to catch a partial transfer before deleting anything from the source.
If this is a recurring backup rather than a one-time move — keeping Proton Drive as a standing mirror of a Mega folder — save the job in Job Manager and check the run history after each execution to track transfer speed and any errored files.
Getting Started
- Download RcloneView from rcloneview.com.
- Add both Mega and Proton Drive as remotes using their email/password credentials.
- Configure a one-way Sync job from Mega to Proton Drive, applying filters as needed.
- Run a Dry Run, then execute the sync and verify with Folder Compare.
Consolidating privacy-focused storage under one migration workflow keeps your data under your control at every step of the move.
