Manage Nextcloud Storage — Sync and Backup Files with RcloneView
Connect RcloneView to your Nextcloud instance via WebDAV and manage files, automate cross-cloud backups, and sync data to S3 or Google Drive — all from a clean desktop GUI.
Nextcloud's built-in sync client is excellent for keeping a local folder in sync, but it doesn't help when you need to migrate data to another cloud, automate cross-provider backups, or browse your Nextcloud files alongside other storage systems. RcloneView connects to Nextcloud via WebDAV — the standard protocol Nextcloud exposes — and treats it like any other cloud remote in the dual-pane file explorer.

Connecting Nextcloud to RcloneView via WebDAV
Nextcloud exposes WebDAV at a standard URL path on your server. In RcloneView, go to Remote tab → New Remote and select WebDAV as the provider type. Enter your Nextcloud WebDAV URL (typically https://your-nextcloud.example.com/remote.php/dav/files/USERNAME/), your Nextcloud username, and password. Set the Vendor option to Nextcloud to enable Nextcloud-specific optimizations in the rclone WebDAV backend.
Once saved, your Nextcloud files appear in the explorer panel with the same interface as any other provider — folder tree, sortable file list, and breadcrumb navigation. You can browse, rename, copy, delete, and drag files to and from Nextcloud just like you would with Google Drive or Dropbox.
Backing Up Nextcloud to S3 or Backblaze B2
Self-hosted Nextcloud servers need an offsite backup strategy. Using RcloneView's Job Manager, you can create a Sync job from your Nextcloud remote to Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, or any other cloud provider. This gives you a redundant copy of all Nextcloud data stored externally, protecting against server failure or hosting provider issues.
Configure the job with Enable Checksum for data integrity assurance, and use the Max file age filter if you only need to backup recently modified files. With a PLUS license, schedule this job nightly so the backup always reflects the current state of your Nextcloud data.
Syncing Nextcloud Files to Google Drive or OneDrive
Many organizations run Nextcloud internally for privacy reasons but need to share specific files externally via Google Drive or OneDrive for collaboration. RcloneView makes this a defined, repeatable process: create a Copy or Sync job from a specific Nextcloud folder to a Google Drive Shared Drive or OneDrive folder, and schedule it to run whenever you need to publish an update.
This pattern is common for teams that use Nextcloud as an internal document management system and Google Drive as the external-facing collaboration layer. The Folder Compare feature lets you verify that the Nextcloud and Google Drive copies match before and after each sync.
