Connect Dropbox and Google Drive as Remotes

Before scheduling any sync job, RcloneView needs authorized connections to both providers. Open the app, go to the Remote tab, and click New Remote. Select Dropbox from the provider list and complete the OAuth browser login — no API key required. Repeat the process for Google Drive, authenticating with your Google account.

Both remotes now appear in the Remote Manager and are accessible from any Explorer panel. You can browse your Dropbox folders on the left panel and your Google Drive destination on the right, making it easy to identify source and destination before building a job.

For teams using Dropbox for Business, set the dropbox_business = true parameter during remote setup. For Google Shared Drives, enable the shared drive option so team folders are accessible in the remote explorer.

Build a Sync Job with Scheduling

With both remotes connected, head to the Home tab and click Sync to open the job wizard. In Step 1, select your Dropbox folder as the source and a Google Drive folder as the destination. Give the job a descriptive name like dropbox-to-gdrive-backup.

In Step 2, adjust the concurrent transfer count for your connection speed. Enabling checksum verification ensures file integrity is confirmed byte-for-byte, not just by size. Step 3 lets you filter by file type — for example, excluding .tmp or .lnk files that Dropbox sometimes leaves in synced team folders.

Step 4 is where the automation happens. With a PLUS license, set a cron-style schedule — for example, every night at 2:00 AM — so fresh Dropbox content is mirrored to Google Drive automatically. Use the cron expression 0 2 * * * for daily execution or 0 2 * * 0 to sync weekly on Sundays. The Simulate schedule button previews the next several run times before you save.

Monitor Live Transfers and Review History

Once your job runs, the Transferring tab at the bottom of the app shows live transfer progress: file count, transfer speed, total data moved, and a cancel button if you need to halt mid-run. For a creative agency syncing 80 GB of project archives from Dropbox to Google Drive, you can watch each file's status tick by as transfers complete.

After each run, the Job History view records execution type (manual or scheduled), duration, total bytes transferred, speed, and final status — Completed, Errored, or Canceled. If a run encounters a temporary API rate limit from either Dropbox or Google Drive, the built-in retry mechanism (default: 3 attempts) handles transient failures without manual intervention.

Verify Sync Results with Folder Compare

After the initial full sync, use RcloneView's Folder Compare tool to validate that both sides match. Launch it from the Home tab, select your Dropbox source and Google Drive destination, then click Compare. Results show left-only files (not yet synced), right-only files (manually added to Drive), same files, and size-mismatched files.

Run a Dry Run before the first live sync to preview exactly which files will be copied or deleted. This is especially important when syncing an active Dropbox team folder — you want to confirm scope before any changes touch the Google Drive destination.

Getting Started

  1. Download RcloneView from rcloneview.com.
  2. Add your Dropbox remote via OAuth login (Remote tab > New Remote).
  3. Add your Google Drive remote the same way.
  4. Create a Sync job pointing from Dropbox to Google Drive with your preferred schedule.
