Connect Google Photos and Wasabi in RcloneView
Start by adding Google Photos as a remote. Open the Remote tab, click New Remote, and select Google Photos from the provider list. RcloneView opens a browser window for OAuth authentication — sign in with your Google account and grant access. Your photos and albums become immediately browsable in the explorer panel.
Next, add Wasabi as an S3-compatible remote. Click New Remote again, select Amazon S3 as the type, and choose Wasabi as the provider. Enter your Wasabi Access Key, Secret Key, and regional endpoint. Create a destination bucket in the Wasabi console beforehand so it's ready to receive files. Once both remotes are saved, you can browse your Google Photos library in one panel and your Wasabi bucket in the other.

Create and Run the Sync Job
With both remotes visible in the explorer, open Job Manager and create a new Sync job. Set Google Photos as the source and your Wasabi bucket as the destination. In the Advanced Settings step, enable checksum verification — this compares transferred files by content hash rather than size alone, catching any corruption in transit.
Before running the full sync, use Dry Run to preview the complete file list. For a photo library built up over years, a dry run helps you understand the volume of data involved and verify that your filter settings — if any — are configured correctly.
Monitor Live Transfer Progress
Once the job starts, the Transferring tab at the bottom of RcloneView shows live progress: transfer speed, files completed, and total size moved. For a photographer with 80,000+ originals, the initial sync may run for several hours — subsequent runs transfer only new or changed files, keeping the incremental backup fast.
Job History logs every run with start time, duration, file count, and status. Reviewing it periodically confirms your backups are completing successfully and lets you spot any recurring errors early.
Schedule Regular Backups with PLUS
With a PLUS license, you can schedule the Google Photos to Wasabi sync to run automatically on any crontab schedule — daily, weekly, or at a specific time. The Simulate Schedule tool previews upcoming run times before you save the job, so you can verify the cadence fits your workflow.
