Sync Google Photos to Backblaze B2 — Cloud Backup with RcloneView
RcloneView creates an automated backup pipeline from Google Photos to Backblaze B2 — keeping your photo library safe in low-cost object storage with zero manual effort.
Google Photos is the photo library for billions of users, but relying on a single cloud provider for irreplaceable memories carries real risk. Professional photographers, family archivists, and content creators who use Google Photos as their primary library benefit enormously from an automated secondary backup to Backblaze B2 — a cost-effective object storage platform. RcloneView handles this pipeline automatically, syncing new photos from Google Photos to B2 on a schedule you define.

Connect Google Photos and Backblaze B2 in RcloneView
Both providers are straightforward to add in RcloneView. For Google Photos, go to Remote tab > New Remote, select Google Photos, and complete browser-based OAuth authentication. For Backblaze B2, select Backblaze B2 and enter your Application Key ID and Application Key from the B2 console.
RcloneView's Google Photos integration exposes your library organized by album and date. You can browse year/month folders and access all media files — photos and videos — from the file explorer.
Configure the Google Photos to B2 Sync Job
Create a sync job in RcloneView with your Google Photos remote as the source and a Backblaze B2 bucket as the destination. A photography studio backing up 500GB of client shoots can target specific Google Photos albums as source folders, directing each album to a corresponding B2 folder structure.
In the sync job's advanced settings, enable checksum verification to confirm every photo and video file transferred to B2 matches its source. This is critical for photo archives where silent corruption would be devastating.
Schedule Automated Photo Backups (PLUS)
With a PLUS license, schedule the Google Photos-to-B2 sync to run automatically. A daily 3 AM sync captures the previous day's photos and videos without impacting daytime performance. RcloneView's incremental sync only transfers new and modified files, keeping job duration short after the initial full backup completes.
The Max file age filter can further refine incremental syncs — setting Max file age: 7d transfers only photos added in the last week, ideal for frequent but lightweight sync jobs.
Monitor Progress and Verify Backup Completeness
RcloneView's Transfer tab shows live backup progress: filenames, transfer speed, and total bytes. After each scheduled run, Job History records a complete summary. For photo libraries with thousands of files, this history log serves as proof of backup completeness — essential for photographers who need to assure clients their images are securely archived.
